Workshops

the pianoBoat project is a mobile multi-artform community arts company, based in Melbourne, Australia. With a focus on facilitated visual storytelling and tailored participatory learning, we work with children and other community groups to empower individuals as creators and storytellers. pianoBoat artists, Raku and Freya, both have a wide range of skills and experience within the arts, and, with this project, aim to challenge and engage via contemporary shadow puppetry. From the allure of hand shadows in firelight to detailed digital projections and animation, the pianoBoat project will surprise and excite.

We love to individualise and contextualise wherever possible, so please do contact us if there are particular issues or skills you would like to address in a workshop format. In general, the fewer the participants the better - ideally we like to work with 12 or less. In our experience, the more participants there are, the less personalised attention available, and the more generic the outcome.

Sustainability in Shadows – Green Transport
2-4 hours
Bring the pianoBoat project into your classroom to enliven young minds with both possibilities and consequences of sustainable transport options. Combine everyday life choices with the creative possibilities for a sustainable future. Interactive shadow based activities will bring these issues to life in a fun and relatable manner, and lead to a greater understanding of the contextual elements to our everyday choices.
